Community · Wellbeing · Practical experience

Planned community and media programme.

FUS is planning a practical media series about life with Crohn's, colitis and other long-term conditions, sailing, food aboard and honest product reviews.

In development — subject to funding and safe delivery

The purpose

Purpose and intended outputs.

The proposed series would share practical information about sailing with IBD and other long-term conditions and provide material for community, funder and partner use. The first planned sailing pilot remains for adults with Crohn's or colitis; wider participation would require consultation, evaluation, suitability checks and appropriate funding.

Community and lived experience

Participant-led stories about Crohn’s, colitis and other long-term conditions, with no pressure to share private health information.

Exercise and wellbeing

Appropriately paced sailing and outdoor activity, including fatigue, confidence, rest, hydration and adapting a role aboard.

Food aboard

Provisioning, simple meals, storage, hydration and personal experience — including responsible exploration of fermented foods such as kefir.

Products and practical reviews

Marine, outdoor, travel and wellbeing products installed, used and assessed in genuine conditions aboard Suerte.

Filming aboard Suerte

Proposed filming formats.

Proposed filming may document delivery and provide material for reports and agreed partner communications, subject to consent and operational approval.

Drone

Suerte under sail, coastal settings and the scale of the experience.

GoPro

Onboard action, participant viewpoints and practical demonstrations.

Photography

People, products, installations, voyages and partner assets.

Editing

Clear stories, captions, accessibility and reusable short and long formats.

Proposed equipment reviews

Product installation and review process.

Reviews would explain the need, show installation or preparation, demonstrate real use and report strengths and limitations.

Editorial independence: equipment or funding would never guarantee a positive review. Paid or gifted content would be clearly labelled.

  1. Define the need. What problem is being addressed for the vessel, crew or participant?
  2. Show preparation. Compatibility, cost, tools, safety and alternatives.
  3. Film the work. Installation or preparation, including difficulties and corrections.
  4. Use it properly. Demonstrate the product in normal onboard conditions where safe.
  5. Review honestly. Strengths, limitations, value and suitability.
  6. Follow up. Report durability and issues discovered over time.

Consent and disclosure

Filming, consent and disclosure safeguards.

All filming would follow FUS safeguarding, data-protection, safety and commercial-disclosure rules.

Participant consent

Appearing on camera would always be optional and separate from access to FUS activities.

Operational priority

Vessel operation and participant welfare would always take priority over filming.

Health-content boundaries

Lived experience would be distinguished from clinical guidance. FUS would not make cure claims or advise people to stop treatment.

Dietary information

No single diet works for everyone with IBD. Significant changes should be discussed with an IBD team or dietitian.

Commercial disclosure

Paid, gifted, affiliate and otherwise commercially influenced content would be labelled clearly.

Editorial independence

Reviews would remain honest, evidence-aware and useful to the intended audience.
